Biography: Rajala was born not too long ago to a human mother and a fae father. Growing up, they were happy, a perfect family even if they got scorn from those who hailed from the seelie court. It was strange for her mother to go missing for more than a few hours at a time, but one day, she just… Never came home. Her father was a mess, complete panic as he reported her disappearance to the EPD, but what they found in their investigations was not something that any child needed to experience at such a young age. She didn’t understand the words ‘strangled’, ‘exsanguinated’, or decomposing’, but she knew other words. Death was one of them.
Her mother had no choice when she left her in her father’s care and… While her father loved her dearly, he was completely lost without her mother. He suffered from overprotectiveness, mania, depression and at the end, he just… stopped wanting to exist. And he did. He withered away before her eyes, no matter how much she tried to comfort him and before her tenth birthday, her father vanished from her life as well.
It took almost three weeks for the neighbor to begin to worry something was wrong. Watching the redheaded child pop out of the house to grab carrots from the garden only to go back inside and disappear for days at a time. Finally, the cops were called after not seeing the raving father and they found Raja, malnourished and dirty, but smiling up at them. When asked what happened to her father, she’d only tell them that he went to go be with her mother and they were living in the afterlife together happily.
The system is a terrible place for a child to grow up in this city and though it’s better than some, it’s still a terrible place. While she spent her time in the police station, being questioned about her father, she rubbed one woman, a clerk, just the right way it seemed and rather than having her sent away into foster care or an orphanage, she was taken in by her. Not long after, she was adopted by the woman and was allowed to grow up happily once more.
Her school years went by without much more happening. Just your average every day in the life of a teenager and though her and her mother argued from time to time, it went smoothly for the most part.
When she was fifteen, she decided to join the EPD like the woman who’d adopted her, wanting desperately to help those in the city live a happier life and try to protect people from the people who weren't as law-abiding as the rest of them. From the time she applied, all through the academy and even now, she holds that very dear to her heart. People aren’t evil, simply on a different path than she is, and she hopes to help direct them on the proper one, even if that means jail time to learn their lessons. It isn’t the safest or the most glamourous of jobs, but she doesn’t mind. She loves being able to help people in need whenever and wherever she can.
